Ripple CTO David Schwartz Weighs In on Zcash Vulnerability on June 7

ZEC7.97%
According to a June 7 X post by Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, users with Zcash in older shielded pools remain safe regardless of whether they move their coins, following disclosure of a critical vulnerability in Zcash's Orchard pool. The flaw, discovered on May 29 and patched June 2, theoretically risked enabling counterfeit ZEC creation. Schwartz's remarks offered reassurance as Zcash declined over 30% after the disclosure, though developers reported no confirmed exploitation. "If there was no exploit, everyone is safe whether they move their coins or not. They'll eventually be a bit lonely in the deprecated pool, but they'll still be safe and accessible," Schwartz wrote.
