Odaily Planet Daily reports that Chainalysis has released a research report showing that by 2025, the tracked activities of countries in the cryptocurrency space will significantly increase. Illegal organizations are now operating large-scale on-chain infrastructure to facilitate transnational crime networks in obtaining goods and services, as well as laundering their illicit gains through cryptocurrencies. Data indicates that illegal cryptocurrency transactions will reach at least $154 billion in 2025. This represents a 162% increase from the previous year, primarily due to a 694% surge in the amount received by sanctioned entities. However, even if the amount received by sanctioned entities remains the same as last year, 2025 will still be a record year for cryptocurrency crime, as activities across most illegal categories have increased. Additionally, stablecoins dominate illegal transactions, currently accounting for 84% of all illegal transaction volume.
