Exerting efforts in the real economy, gathering strength in big data, promoting the construction of industrial clusters, and realizing digital transformation. As the digital economy, where everything is counted, everything is interconnected, and everything is intelligent, surges forward in the wave of change, the industrial layout of ‘One City, Nine Parks’ in Honggutan District, Nanchang City, has emerged in response to the new era, dancing with the metaverse, and tasting the ‘first soup’ of the digital economy boom.

As the permanent venue of the World VR Industry Conference, Honggutan District is the main battlefield for promoting the “Number One Development Project” to enhance and strengthen the digital economy in the whole province. By 2023, the district has added 438 core digital economy enterprises, with a total of 5818, maintaining the first place in the province in terms of total and incremental enterprises. At the beginning of 2024, 54 large-scale digital economy (information transmission, software, and information technology services) enterprises have started sprinting steadily, showing good development.

The “Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Deepening the Overall Reform and Promoting the Modernization of China” points out the need to improve the system that promotes the deep integration of the real economy and the digital economy. Accelerate the advancement of new industrialization, cultivate and strengthen advanced manufacturing clusters, and promote the high-end, intelligent, and green development of the manufacturing industry.

“The way of benefiting from everything is to keep pace with the times”. The rapid growth of the digital economy in Honggutan District is due to the timing of catching the trend, the superior location of the Nanchang Urban Circle CBD, the support of superior policies and its own unremitting efforts.

Since the beginning of this year, Honggutan District has actively built a ‘1+5+6’ all-around optimized business environment service system, focusing on the ‘Hong Xiao Er’ as the overall brand, grasping five innovative service measures, and vigorously carrying out six featured service activities to help enterprises address major difficulties and prominent issues in their development, garnering praise from enterprises and gaining recognition for Honggutan District.

In the Zouma Honggutan District, along the Gan River from south to north, there is a surging tide of digital economic development everywhere. The Future Science City has formed an industrial layout of ‘one city and nine parks’ in this ‘digital hot land’, including VR Technology Innovation City, Huigu Industrial Park, and Yonyou Industrial Park, among other core industrial parks of the digital economy, further promoting industrial development in the region. In addition to leading VR enterprises such as Huawei, Beihang University, and Alibaba, there are also more than 10 Chinese VR Top 50 enterprises in the park, unleashing the dividends of new development in the digital economy.

As an important support point for the construction of Nanchang metropolitan area and the leading demonstration core area of digital economy innovation in the province, Honggutan District actively connects with many well-known domestic universities and scientific research institutions, and has established industry-leading scientific and technological innovation platforms such as the national-level virtual reality manufacturing innovation center, Qiu Shi Institute, and China Mobile VR innovation center.

Digital momentum, talent first. In recent years, Honggutan District has been “gathering talents from all over the world and making good use of them”, deeply implementing the strategy of strengthening the district with talents, creating a gathering place for innovative talents and an incubation ground for innovative projects with a hot and spicy “gift package” policy, and promoting the formation of a talent element guarantee circle for the digital economy, helping the development of the digital economy industry to achieve a wonderful transformation from nothing to something, from small to large, and from weak to strong.

At the provincial economic work conference held on December 18th, Party Secretary Yin Hong emphasized the need to take technological innovation as the driving force for the development of new productive forces, vigorously promote new industrialization, deepen the implementation of the ‘1269’ action plan, empower traditional industries with digital technology for transformation and upgrading, cultivate and expand emerging industries, concentrate efforts on building advantageous industrial clusters, seize future industrial development opportunities according to local conditions, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system with advanced manufacturing as the backbone.

The digital economy characteristics of Honggutan District have positive exploratory significance. For example, actively making use of location, transportation, industry, ecology, and cultural advantages, actively integrating into the construction of the “Belt and Road”, deeply participating in the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, connecting with the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and jointly building the national regional major strategic Yangtze River middle reaches urban agglomeration. Another example is accelerating the undertaking of industries and innovative factors from the Yangtze River Delta, and vigorously developing green manufacturing and green service industries… Riding the wave of the digital economy, Honggutan District is accelerating the construction of a new highland for the digital economy industry.
