French Mother and Son Arrested for Defrauding Couple of 1.5M EUR in Crypto on June 25

According to Nice-Matin, French authorities arrested a mother and son on June 25 in Cavalaire-sur-Mer for defrauding a wealthy couple of 1.5 million euros in cryptocurrency assets. The pair used a fake property sale guarantee scheme to convince the victims to deposit the funds into designated accounts, then obtained their private keys via a miniature camera hidden in eyeglasses during a meeting in Milan.

Three properties owned by the suspects in the French Riviera, valued at approximately 1.9 million euros, have been seized by authorities. Both suspects have criminal records and remain under judicial supervision. The case is scheduled for trial at the Draguignan Criminal Court on September 1 on charges of organized fraud and money laundering.
